Come to Central Macedonia and you can climb Mount Olympus, Greece’s highest peak, and uncover Byzantine treasures and stunning waterfalls — without breaking a sweat.
I’m standing on top of Skolio, the summit of Mount Olympus. Well, almost the summit: Mytikas, which looms 400m away to our east, is the official highest point and, at 2,918m, it’s also the highest point in Greece. But given that Skolio, at 2,904m, is barely a Doric column lower, and that an ascent of Mytikas requires ropes, this feels good enough for me…
